HBO (which is owned by Time Warner) is introducing a new option to their On Demand service whereby Time-Warner Cable subscribers can download shows to their computers to watch instead of having to go through the cable system. This is intended to compete with things like NetFlix.
There's just one hitch. Time-Warner Cable is at the same time going to implement bandwidth caps and throttle the connection of anyone downloading large amounts of data (like, say, videos) to a ridiculously low speed.
Right hand, meet left hand. Left hand, right hand. I think you two need to sit down and have a talk, get yourselves on the same page.

WebSideStory gone
A few years ago I worked for WebSideStory (WSSI), a web-analytics company. One of their biggest competitors was Omniture. After I left, WSS changed their name to Visual Sciences (VSCN). This week, they were bought out by Omniture (OMTR). The terms were half a share of Omniture stock and $2.39 cash per share of WSS/VSCN stock. "It's just a small change, update Delivery Monitor to display right IE7. It can't be that complicated." Yeah, right. Pull the other one, boss. Doing this will involve my learning:
